Deepika at the Oscars
Deepika gave the RRR team the Oscar in 2023 for the song Naatu Naatu, which took home the prize for Best Original Song. “An irresistibly catchy chorus, electrifying beats, and killer dance moves to match have made this next song a global sensation,” she remarked on stage after announcing the prize.
She went on, “It plays during a critical sequence in RRR, a film about the friendship of Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, two real-life Indian revolutionaries. Not only is it sung in Telugu, but it also perfectly captures the anti-colonialist sentiments of the movie and sounds amazing.
