Lately, Akshay Kumar has seen a string of box office failures. During the trailer release for his next film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Akshay discussed the lackluster reception his previous films, such as Selfiee and Mission Raniganj, received at the box office.
Although he has been working hard to ensure the success of his films, Akshay acknowledged that he has no control over the box office. Akshay stated, “We keep on trying for every type of film,” at the trailer releasing event. I don’t limit myself to a single genre. I have always worked in a variety of genres, switching them up regardless of success or lack thereof. I will continue to engage in socially conscious, morally upright, comedic, and active endeavors.
“I will always keep on doing different kinds of (work),” Akshay said. “Sir, aaj kal comedy and action bohot chal rahe hai (I am told comedy and action are working these days)” won’t be the reason I stick to one type of stuff. It does not imply that I should limit my actions. If I only do one kind of stuff, I get bored easily. Regardless of the projects I’ve worked on, such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Airlift, Rustom, and many others, success isn’t guaranteed every time.
Then Akshay remembered the period he had 16 flops in a row. He revealed, “It’s not like I haven’t experienced (this phase) before; in fact, there was a period in my career when I had 16 straight failures. However, I continued working as I stood there, and I will continue to do so. This year, there is one movie that all of us have worked very hard on, and the results will soon be revealed. We’re hoping that this will bring us all luck.
